Michael King is a seasoned production professional with a career spanning more than three decades across live entertainment, touring, and broadcast. With experience ranging from stage management and technical direction to large-scale production and systems supervision, his work reflects a deep understanding of both the artistic and technical demands of performance.
He began his training in theatre at a young age, remaining actively involved through school and community productions before continuing his studies abroad in Vienna, Austria. He later studied arts management and physics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he gained hands-on experience working with professional labor organizations as well as lighting and sound companies across New England. He has contributed to tours and productions for artists including Madonna, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Van Halen, the Grateful Dead, Neil Diamond, Rush, and Motörhead, and has worked on large-scale events such as Lollapalooza, presidential inaugurations, major sporting events, and national broadcasts.
In addition to his work in live entertainment, he spent over two decades in television as a maintenance engineer, supporting major sports broadcasts and remote productions including golf, football, racing, WWE, and Good Morning America.
Throughout his career, he has worked across an extraordinary range of venues and environments—from theaters, opera houses, and symphony halls to stadiums, outdoor festivals, and international touring productions—bringing a high level of technical expertise, adaptability, and professionalism to every project.
At The Standard Theatre Company, he serves as a technical leader and mentor, supporting production teams and helping to ensure a high level of execution across all technical elements.
