Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access

At The Standard Theatre Company, we believe theatre should reflect the full diversity of the human experience. We are deeply committed to building an artistic community where artists, students, educators, and audiences of all backgrounds feel welcomed, respected, and empowered to participate.

As a new organization, we are working hard to shape shape our community to be inclusive for all members from the very beginning.

We want to ensure that our classrooms, rehearsal rooms, and stages are spaces where creativity, dignity, and belonging guide our work. We require board and staff training on unconscious bias, cultural competency, and will be consciously aware of updating our polices to ensure growth within our community.

We believe it is our artistic responsibility to look for ways to develop and produce plays that reflect the evolving community at large and find ways to tell the stories of those that have been historically silenced.

We stand firm in building a community where no student is left behind due to financial constraints. We are proud to offer sliding scale tickets, free programming and partnerships with schools to remove economic barriers.

We will be seeking all avenues to provide services like sign language interpretation, audio description, and will always have wheelchair accessible seating.

Our commitment is, and will be, ongoing. As The Standard grows, we will continue to listen, learn, and evolve so that our theatre remains a place where everyone has the opportunity to create, collaborate, and be heard-together.
